We love to share our passion for creating memorable images! MacPherson Studios is pleased to offer photography classes to help you to get the most from your camera, whether it’s a basic “point & shoot” or an advanced Digital SLR.
Our classes are limited in size so that you will receive individual attention and learn in a comfortable, intimate environment.

Introduction to Digital Photography – 3 class sessions. Limited to 6 students.
Course fee (includes materials) $95.00
This course is designed to familiarize the student with the basic operation of their camera and to help them in their camera buying decision if one is still pending. It is not necessary to bring a camera to this class. Basic point & shoot cameras will be provided.
This class is recommended for beginners. No prior photography knowledge or training is assumed.

Advanced Digital Photography – 5 class sessions. Limited to 6 students.
Course fee (includes materials) $195
This class is recommended for those who have basic knowledge of photography and are interested in a better understanding and improving their images. Typical students have, or are ready to acquire their first DSLR.

- Working with your computer – transferring photos to the computer, backups
- Basic exposure – shutter speed, f stops, automatic exposure modes, ISO
- Optical & digital zoom
- Focal length – wide angle, normal and telephoto
- Basic composition
- Shooting at night – flash & ambient light
- Printing your pictures – at home or at the store

- Metering – incident vs reflected
- Gray card – when to use it
- Depth of field
- Focal lengths – wide angle, normal and telephoto
- White Balance
- Composition
- Basic photo editing

- Macro – macro lenses, extension tubes and bellows
- Using flash – built-in vs external
- Light tables
- Light modifiers - diffusers, umbrellas, reflectors
- Wireless triggers and multiple light sources – an introduction.
- Basic posing
- Hogarth’s Line of Beauty, Rule of Thirds
- Portrait composition and practice
